A source of hope and unity
What an incredibly busy month team Pythian have had!
Fittingly, we were donated some popcorn, which we used to ‘pop’ for our heroes across the city on Thursday night! Special mention to Notts police here, who also pitched in to support by handing this out to people in need of a pick me up.
Whilst we’ve had some emotional moments – we all felt it when Ben received a call from an 87 year old lady, who was in tears from loneliness – we hope we’ve been able to support people through these struggles. Whilst we couldn’t enter the house, we headed over with a cuppa for and a chat from outside, and I’m sure this left a smile on her face. We’ve also pledged to return for a quick chat here and there, to help keep her spirits up!
This was a stark reminder to us all that this virus brings more with it than just physical illness. We need to press on here and provide as much support as we can, and our commitment will not waver. We continue to receive and respond to calls and requests from the various councils, helping with delivering shopping and medication for those who need it.
Our commitment to helping young people has always, and will always, be at the forefront of our mission. But now, more than ever, the entire community needs our help. Young people and everyone else can continue to count on us and we’re available through all the usual social media channels and we will continue to check in with our community.
We are still here for you. We are always here for you.
Last, but certainly not least, some of our young leaders have put their heads together via zoom and decided to set up a sports equipment loan service for our sporty members to maintain fitness at home. A wild month with twists and turns, but we came out strong. Bring on May!
Ben and his team would like to thank each and every one of you who supports The Pythian Club and ask if you’d support us a little more by giving this post and the club a share!
