Alternative Provisions at the fore

The start of 2025 has seen The Pythian Club delivering exciting new contracts within two alternative provision settings within the city.

With a growing recognition that pupils’ mental health and well-being influence their educational attainment, the Club, designs and delivers sessions to engage pupils whether in sport and physical activity or teaching life skills through workshops thereby supporting reengaging disaffected pupils in learning and development.

Currently, the Club’s team delivers three weekly multisport sessions within Denewood Academy, part of the Raleigh Education Trust, which offers full-time education to those permanently excluded from mainstream education.

Benjamin Rosser, CEO, Ashley Gorman, Head of Sports and Sommo Chakraborty, Sports and Inclusion Officer at Denewood Academy.

Within Endeavour Academy, a generic special school that mainly supports those with Autism Spectrum Condition, ADHD and Attachment Disorder, the team delivers a 4-hour weekly session that includes sports sessions and life-skills workshops to cover e.g. self-esteem, resilience, etc.

Reframing competition to focus more on fostering internal motivation and providing opportunities for pupils to feel a sense of achievement, the Club delivers fun and engaging sports activities. Workshops are tailored to the needs of the students helping to ensure their social and emotional development.

If you are interested in discussing how The Pythian Club can support your pupils, please contact us, we would be delighted to assist with a proposal.
