Championship Boxing match tickets gifted to the community
Thanks to the generosity of Street Games and a member of the public, Carwyn Herbert, The Pythian Club, was gifted complimentary tickets to a full night of championship boxing, belts won and titles claimed at Nottingham Motorpoint Arena on Saturday, 25 January 2025.
Through its network within the community, The Club was able to invite 60 people to watch the boxing.
The main fight saw No.3 WBC-ranked, Dalton ‘Thunder’ Smith (16-0, 12 KOs), charge towards greatness as he challenged, Walid Ouizza (19-2, 8 KOs), for the EBU European and WBC Silver super-lightweight championships.
Following a ring walk, giving the fighters a chance to walk out to the roaring crowds to theme music (popularised after former world champion Muhammad Ali used the Star Wars theme for a title bout against Earnie Shavers in 1977), the boxers prepared to battle it out.
With Dalton Smith taking control early in the match, he consolidated his position as the new European champion after stopping Frenchman, Walid Ouizza, in the first round in Nottingham.
Matt Gains, Business Development Manager, The Pythian Club said: “Thank you to StreetGames UK and Carwyn for helping us to provide these opportunities to the people who make our community so special!
For many of us, this was the first time we had watched a live boxing match. The atmosphere on the night was electric and it was a truly memorable experience.”
