Ashley’s journey - East Midlands Chamber to Head Sports Coach

Prior to joining The Pythian Club, Ashley Gorman, had given up hope on becoming a Sports Coach. That was until 5 years ago when he joined a ‘into work’ support programme run by East Midlands Chamber.

Ashely said: “5 years ago, I was unemployed and didn't know what I wanted to do. I had given up on becoming a coach but with the support of my work coach Paul Needham, at East Midlands Chamber, I came to work at The Pythian Club. With Ben Rosser’s (CEO) and Kelly Puleston’s (Project Manager) support and encouragement, I gained vital knowledge and experience leading to becoming Outreach Lead and Head Sports Coach. Though this experience, I am now in a fortunate position to be able to support and give back to young people I meet and work with, ensuring they never give up on their dreams.”

Benjamin Rosser added: “Ash has been with The Pythian Club for the last 2 years and it has been an absolute delight to see his self-belief and confidence grow through his time here. As Head Sports Coach, Ash now runs sessions within the community and has gained the respect not only of the young people he supports, but also his colleagues here at the Club. Ash has shown commitment and dedication since he started with us and is a highly valued member of the team.”
