Christmas party-fun and a time of giving!
With the festive season upon us, it’s a time for holiday cheer, and a time of giving.
Saturday, 7 December, from 5 pm - 8 pm saw Edward’s Lane Estate Community Centre transformed by the Chayah Project, and Community Care, into a Christmas Party Santa’s grotto with stalls, balloons, and food galore.
Predominately open to families and carers with children in receipt of free school meals, there was plenty of party food available for all, with the Centre filled with families and young people of all ages having fun, playing games, laughing and dancing too.
Hya Francis-Watson, CEO, Chayah Project said: “It was an honour and privilege to have The Pythian Club support us during our Christmas party at the Community Centre. Their staff ensured every guest felt welcomed and supported, and thoroughly enjoyed the event. We are now looking forward to the 20 December, when we will embark on Chayah’s annual outreach programme in Nottingham City Centre. Equipped with sleeping bags, toiletries bags, and our special hot soup with a roll, we aim to bring warmth and comfort to those in need. It is truly inspiring to see grassroots community programmes coming together to deliver vital services to the people of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Together we bring hope to a city in desperate need. “
Mandy Drake, Operations and HR Manager, The Pythian Club said: “As an organisation, we were delighted to support the Chayah Project’s Christmas party with some of our staff on hand to set up and provide general assistance at this incredible festive event. The effort that Hya and her team had gone to was extraordinary! A visit by Santa was an added bonus, as was Santa’s gifting of wrapped presents to all young people who attended. This was a truly joyous occasion, and we were delighted to play a small part. We look forward to working in partnership with Hya and her team on Friday, 20 December, when we will gift sleeping bags, gloves, neck warmers and socks to bring a little Christmas cheer to those who live on the streets of Nottingham. If you have anything spare, please consider the use and difference it could make for another person this Christmas.’’
