Leader of Nottingham City Council visits The Pythian Club

Taking time out of their busy schedule, The Pythian Club (TPC) were delighted to welcome Councillors David Mellen, Leader of Nottingham City Council and Linda Woodings, portfolio holder for Housing and Planning to the Club’s hub based at Heathfield Community Centre.

Benjamin Rosser, CEO of The Pythian Club and the team took time chat to the Councillors to about how the Club proudly supports the community as well as discuss some improvements we are looking to make at the Centre and within the park.

Some of our young leaders and staff had the chance to ask questions, showcase their work and talk about the positive impact their work has had. Ben also introduced Andy Harris from Power of Drums who supports young people through music.

Councillor Woodings was delighted to see how the Secret Garden Project has, and continues, to be developed as well as the how the Centre has improved – it really is incredible what a lick of paint on the exterior and interior of a building can yield!

Alongside Wendy Russell, Resident Development Officer, the Councillors met local residents, Elizabeth Moody and Rachel Cameron, TPC Facilities Manager, who run Friday’s Knit and Natter sessions for local residents from the Centre.

It was wonderful receiving some positive feedback from the Councillors and support for the work we deliver locally and within the community, all set against the most beautiful Autumnal day.
