Sports’ leaders are GO!

The end of October saw The Pythian Club deliver a 5-day Sports Leadership programme empowering young people to become leaders in a world where sports have the ability to inspire, unite, and generate opportunities.

The programme was provided as part of The Prince’s Trust’s ‘Start Something…” programme and was delivered with thanks to the tremendous assistance of our sponsors LTA Serves, The FA, and Active Leaders, this programme has the ability to create genuine long-term impact and conveys a strong message about the value of developing young leaders.

Ben Rosser, CEO, The Pythian Club commented: “We are delighted that through the support of The Prince’s Trust and our sponsors, we have to have engaged with 13 young people of all abilities, aged 16 – 25, providing them with the skills and support to become leaders and mentors in their own right. To see the attendees not only develop new skills, but also display new-found confidence and friendships, has been a pleasure to witness and is a prime example of how sport can empower and unite young people. Huge congratulations to all participants and thanks to all involved.”

This programme which is open to those who are currently not in full-time education, employment or training, further demonstrates the Club’s determination and willingness to drive forward it’s ‘Open Up The Badge’ initiative focused on promoting equality, diversity, inclusion and belonging within sport.

The week culminated in a welcomed visit from the Sheriff of Nottingham, Councillor Shuguftah Quddoos, who was able to meet this inspiring cohort and congratulate each attendee on achieving a phenomenal 4 nationally-recognised qualifications in just one week!
